The Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood is a 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky that gets its unique character from a two-stage maturation process, or "wood finishing". First, it matures in traditional American oak ex-bourbon casks, and then it's finished for several months in European oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This dual maturation creates a balanced flavor profile with sweet honey, vanilla, and nutty notes from the American oak, along with rich dried fruit and sherry complexity from the European oak. The result is a smooth, mellow, and Warming whisky with hints of cinnamon spice.
